Visit to Willow St Pharmacy

19 July 2010

Owen was recently invited by John Gentle of the Willow Street Community Pharmacy to see his business and discuss how it can become more involved in Government plans to commission more services locally.   Owen said “It was good to meet John Gentle with Charles Willis of the English Pharmacy Board.  I was interested to hear about the way in which the business has expanded and impressed by the range of services it provides to local people.   We discussed how the pharmacy helps with advice on drugs and its role in encouraging men between the ages of 40 and 60, who are often reluctant to see a doctor, to speak to a pharmacist about their health concerns. John Gentle was very keen to become involved in the Governments plans to decentralise health services and I encouraged him to contact the Department of Health about how pharmacies can have an enhanced role in delivering positive health outcomes.”
